  Pictures inside Reddit comments are shown as pictures. A Giphy, a subreddit
  emote, an image uploaded to the comment, or simply the address of one pasted
  in — which on Reddit is how most of them arrive — all now appear where they
  were written, instead of as a link or as the raw text of a tag nobody wants to
  read. An address typed without the https on the front counts too.

  They are fetched through the same proxy as everything else, so reading a
  thread still never has your browser talking to Reddit.
